1.1 Purpose

Use low temperature tests to obtain data to help evaluate effects of low temperature conditions on materiel safety, integrity, and performance during storage, operation, and manipulation.

1.2 Application

Use this Method to evaluate materiel likely to be exposed to a low temperature environment during its life cycle.

1.3 Limitations

This Method is not intended to simulate the high altitude, low temperature environment associated with an unpressurized aircraft at altitude. However, this method may be used in conjunction with Method 500.6 to simulate the high altitude, low temperature environment.
