Review of the research literature shows that BFP moment connections meet the qualifications and requirements of both SMF and IMF frames. However, no test data are available for BFP moment connections with composite slabs, and thus the BFP moment connection is not prequalified with reinforced concrete structural slabs that contact the face of the columns. Therefore, prequalification of the BFP moment connection is restricted to the case where the concrete structural slab has a minimum separation or isolation from the column as required in Section 2.3.4.
