In the welded unreinforced flange-welded web (WUF-W) moment connection, inelastic rotation is developed primarily by yielding of the beam in the region adjacent to the face of the column. Connection rupture is controlled through special detailing requirements associated with the welds joining the beam flanges to the column flange, the welds joining the beam web to the column flange, and the shape and finish of the weld access holes.
