The collar web extension (CWX) is 1½ in. (38 mm) thick; thus, the minimum sized fillet weld between the CWX and beam web is a 5/16 in. (8 mm) fillet weld. This weld size for a two-sided fillet weld (each side of the web) should be sufficient for all allowable beams; this should be confirmed during the design procedure calculations.
