Prequalification tests have been conducted with both pretensioned ASTM F3125/ F3125M Grades A325, A325M, A490, and A490M bolts. Bolt length should be such that at least two complete threads are between the unthreaded portion of the shank and the face of the nut after the bolt is pretensioned. Faying surface requirements in AISC Seismic Provisions Section D2.2(d) are not required for end-plate moment connections.
