Chapter J includes the following major changes and additions in this edition of the Provisions:

(1) This chapter is reorganized as a result of harmonization with Specification Chapter N.

(2) Revisions related to ultrasonic testing (UT) effectiveness at roots of partial-joint-penetration groove welds are included.

(3) A new provision permitting a combination of visual testing and magnetic particle testing as an alternative to UT is provided.
