Yield strength, tensile strength and percentage elongation, when determined in accordance with IS 1608, shall conform to the requirements as given in Table 2.
10.3.1
In case of sections, the thickness of which is not uniform throughout the profile, the limits of sizes given in Table 2 shall be applied according to the actual maximum thickness of the piece adopted for testing.
10.3.2
Should a tensile test piece break outside the middle half of the gauge length (see IS 1608) and the percentage elongation obtained is less than that specified, the test may be discarded at the manufacturer/supplier’s option and another test made from the sample plate, strip, section, flat or bar.
