Tubulars conforming to this standard shall be made from tubes which comply with all the appropriate requirements of IS 1239 (Part 1).

The steel from which the fittings are made, when tested in accordance with IS 1608 shall show on test a minimum tensile strength of 320 MPa. The percentage elongation on a gauge length of (where
is the original cross-section of the test specimen) shall not be less than 20 percent.
